ANIMALS ON CAMPUS

There are, significant health and safety hazards and nuisances created by unrestrained animals on campus. Accordingly, the following guidelines shall be enforced to animals:  

  • Animals shall not be brought on to University property unless they are under the complete control of the owner and present no hazard to people. The wearing of a muzzle by a dog shall not be regarded as control by its owner.
  • Animals may not be brought onto the campus ground except where: -they are secured to a leash, cord, chain, or similar direct physical control of a maximum length of six (6) feet, the other end of which is retained by a person, or, -securely confined in a vehicle, cage or similar restrictive convenience.
  • Animals, including dogs, may not be tethered on campus.
  • Animals are not permitted in any campus building even though leashed except for:
    • -guide dogs and service dogs for disabled persons.
    • -animals involved in authorized research or police operations.
  • Dogs and cats must have a valid license as evidence of current rabies vaccinations.
  • Animals, including dogs and cats, on campus, found running at large or without evidence of current rabies vaccination are subject to being removed by the City of Corpus Christi Animal Control.
  • Feeding stray animals on campus is discouraged.
